Laser vision correction is a safe and effective way to correct refractive errors such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism, and presbyopia (age-related near vision loss). By reshaping the cornea using advanced laser technology, these procedures allow light to focus correctly on the retina, resulting in clear and sharp vision.

"At Mahajan Eye Centre, we are committed to providing world-class refractive surgery solutions. We utilize cutting-edge technology and equipment to ensure the highest standard of care for our patients. Our highly trained staff, combined with an advanced infrastructure, allows us to deliver excellent outcomes in a safe and comfortable environment."
We offer a comprehensive range of laser vision correction surgeries, each designed to correct specific refractive errors. There are three major laser vision correction treatments available today:
PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy):
PRK is a surface ablation technique in which, the thin outer layer of the cornea treatments is first gently removed and then an advanced excimer laser is used to reshape the underlying cornea area. It is ideal for patients with thin corneas or those who may not be suitable candidates for LASIK.

LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis):
LASIK is the most popular and widely performed laser eye surgery. A thinprecise flap is created on the surface of the cornea and then an advanced excimer laser is used to reshape the underlying cornea area following which the flap is then repositioned back on the surface on the eye.Corneal flap can be created using either a handheld surgical device called microkeratome (using blade) or using a fast and highly precisefemtosecond laser instead of a blade. It provides a more precise and safer procedure with faster healing(Bladeless LASIK).

SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction):
SMILE is the latest development in laser vision correction. SMILE is a minimally invasive laser procedure that corrects myopia and astigmatism. In this procedure, the femtosecond laser is used to create a lenticule - a thin, contact lens-shaped layer just beneath the surface of the eye and then a small opening through which that layer is removed, without the need for a flap.

Laser vision correction offers numerous benefits, improving the quality of life for many patients. Some of the key advantages include:
- Improved Vision: Most patients achieve 20/20 vision or better, reducing or eliminating the need for glasses and contact lenses.
- Quick and Safe: The procedure is performed in just a few minutes per eye and is minimally invasive, with a very low risk of complications.
- Fast Recovery: Most patients experience significant improvement in vision within 24 to 48 hours, with full recovery taking about a week.
- Permanent Results: Laser vision correction provides long-lasting results, though some patients may need enhancements or additional corrections as they age.
- Freedom from Glasses and Contacts: Enjoy the freedom of clear vision without the hassle of corrective eyewear, especially during sports or other activities.
Consider the yearly and long-term costs of your glasses and contacts when thinking about investing in laser vision correction. Long-term laser vision correction may actually save you money, as well as provide you with many other lifestyle benefits with little to no need for glasses and contacts. Ask your doctor to help you understand all your vision correction options and if laser vision correction could be right for you.

Determining if you’re a candidate for laser vision correction depends on various factors, including your eye health, prescription, and corneal thickness. Here are the general inclusion and exclusion criteria:
Inclusion Criteria:
- Over 18 years of age.
- Stable prescription for at least 1 year.
- Myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism within treatable ranges.
- Adequate corneal thickness for LASIK or SMILE.
- Good overall eye health, with no active infections or conditions.
Exclusion Criteria:
- Unstable vision or recent significant changes in your prescription.
- Thin or irregular corneas, making you unsuitable for LASIK or SMILE.
- Certain medical conditions like autoimmune diseases or uncontrolled diabetes.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women, as hormonal changes can affect vision.
- Severe dry eye syndrome, as it can worsen after surgery.
"For patients who may not qualify for laser vision correction, lens-based procedures like ICL or PRELEX may be considered."
Laser vision correction can also be used to treat presbyopia, a natural age-related condition that reduces the eye's ability to focus on near objects.
Monovision LASIK:
One eye is corrected for distance vision, while the other is corrected for near vision. This solution helps patients manage presbyopia and regain clear vision at all distances.
Laser Blended Vision:
An advanced technique that blends the focal points of both eyes to create clearer vision across different distances. It’s designed to reduce the need for reading glasses without affecting depth perception.
Both options provide effective solutions for patients who want to reduce their dependence on reading glasses as they age.
We pride ourselves on our ultra-modern setup, which includes industry-leading technology and diagnostic tools. Our infrastructure is designed to offer precision, safety, and comfort throughout the patient’s journey:
MEL 80 Excimer Laser-Workhorse Excimer Laser System
The MEL 80 is a cutting-edge excimer laser system designed for performing laser vision correction procedures like LASIK and PRK with unparalleled precision.
Advantages
- High-Speed Ablation: Reduces treatment time for enhanced patient comfort and faster recovery.
- Wavefront-Optimized Treatments: Customizes the laser application to each patient’s eye, minimizing visual aberrations and improving night vision.
- Thermal Control Technology: Ensures minimal corneal heating, reducing the risk of complications and improving post-surgical healing.

VisuMax Femtosecond Laser System – The Most Advanced FS Laser System
The VisuMax is a revolutionary femtosecond laser system by Zeiss, widely recognized for its precision and versatility in performing bladeless LASIK and SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction).
Advantages
- Ultra-Precise Flap Creation: Capable of creating corneal flaps as thin as 80 microns, preserving corneal strength, especially in patients with thin corneas.
- SMILE Capability: Enables minimally invasive refractive correction with a small incision, resulting in faster recovery and fewer dry eye symptoms.
- Gentle Treatment: Operates with low suction, providing a comfortable experience during the procedure.
Oculus Pentacam – Gold Standard Tomography
The Oculus Pentacam is an advanced diagnostic device that provides comprehensive imaging of the cornea and anterior segment, crucial for pre-surgical evaluations and post-operative monitoring. The device is first of its kind to be capable of detailing posterior corneal surface amking it gold standard for decision making in laser refractive procedure.
Advantages
- Detailed Corneal Analysis: Measures corneal thickness, curvature, and elevation to detect abnormalities like keratoconus or irregular astigmatism.
- 3D Anterior Segment Imaging: Offers a complete view of the eye's front structures, aiding in customized treatment planning.
- Safety Screening: Helps identify patients who may not be suitable candidates for refractive surgery, ensuring safe and effective outcomes.
